From Qurtuba to Christian Córdoba

In 1236 Ferdinand III took the city. A new era began, without fully erasing the previous one.

Historical context

The Mezquita was consecrated as a cathedral. Fernandine churches with Mudejar-style towers were built. Many Andalusi features survived in patios, masons, crafts and farming.

What remains today

Today's Córdoba is the result of successive layers: Roman, Visigothic, Andalusi, Jewish and Christian.

Tips for the visitor

Visit Fernandine churches like San Lorenzo or San Miguel.
